Hiking Directions for Mount Washington

The summit of Mount Washington can be obtained in the summer via hiking, the auto road, or the cog railroad.  In the late fall, the early spring, and the entire winter, you'll have to reach the summit by hiking.  The most common hiking routes begin at Pinkham Notch.  In winter or summer, the hike is strenuous.  There are many books and other publications on hiking Mount Washington, however, I will not attempt to list the directions on hiking on this page.  My directions are from the cog railroad or the auto road parking lot.

Follow the signs to the top of the rock pile.  There is a sign that marks the summit.
