Driving Directions to Mount
Davis
The following directions are provided by Diane and Charlie Winger's excellent
highpoint guide,
Highpoint
Adventures.
Drive along I-68 in northern Maryland, just south of the Pennsylvania border.
Take Exit 22 off I-68 onto US 219 North. This exit is about halfway
between Cumberland, Maryland and the point where I-68 crosses the MD/WV
border.
Travel North on US 219. After 2.5 miles, you'll cross into PA.
After a total of 4.5 miles from I-68, you'll reach the town of Salisbury,
Pennsylvania.
Turn left in Salisbury onto State Road 669. There is a sign just before
this turn showing the way to "Mt. Davis High Point."
Follow SR 669 for .7 miles to a "T" intersection. Turn left at the "T,"
and continue along SR 669 for an additional 3.0 miles.
Watch for a road bearing to the right that leads towards Listonburg.
Turn right onto this road (you have traveled 3.0 miles from the turn at the
"T." ) This is road 2002. If you find yourself in the town of Springs,
Pennsylvania, you have missed the turn to 2002.
Follow road 2002 for 3.2 miles. Turn right at the sign "Mt. Davis State
Forrest Monument." This is a gravel road.
Continue North on the gravel road. You'll see another road coming in
from your right after 1.7 miles. This is an alternate road back to
Salisbury. Continue North, following the sign toward Mt. Davis.
A short distance later, take note of the scenic overlook picnic table..
Finally, after driving a total of 2.3 miles along the gravel road, you'll come
to a stop sign. Turn right, following the signs to the parking area for
Mt. Davis.
