Driving Directions to Guadalupe Peak
Directions from the West
From Exit 24A on Interstate 10 in the West Texas town of El Paso, take US 62 (also Route 180) 105 miles East. This is a pretty desolate drive once you leave El Paso, so make sure you gas up. Make a left on Pine Canyon Drive. The parking lot is less than a quarter of a mile on this road. There is adequate parking, and the trail begins at the parking lot.
Directions from the North
From the junction of Route 285 and US 62 (also Route 180) just South of Carlsbad, New Mexico travel West (sort of South) for 52.5 miles to Pine Canyon Drive. Make a right on Pine Canyon Drive. The parking lot is less than a quarter of a mile on this road. There is adequate parking, and the trail begins at the parking lot.
Directions from the East (not a recommended route)
From the junction of Business 20 and Route 285 in Pecos, Texas, take 285 for 38 miles to the town of Orla, Texas. Make a left on FM 652. Make sure you veer to the right after about 1000 feet. Travel on FM 652 for 40 miles until the junction with Route 180/US 62. (I have never taken this road, and I believe it is gravel or dirt. It appears to have a gradual ascent of about 2000 feet elevation gain.) Turn left on Route 180/US 62 (West). Travel 19 miles to the junction with Pine Canyon Drive. Make a right on Pine Canyon Drive. The parking lot is less than a quarter of a mile on this road. There is adequate parking, and the trail begins at the parking lot.
